Calvary moved off the foot of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after edging Police 1-0 at Midigo Primary School Playground on Wednesday.
Once again, Lawrence Olaboro proved decisive for the Yumbe-based side, scoring the only goal of the match to hand Calvary a vital victory in their fight against relegation.
Olaboro has carried much of Calvary’s attacking responsibility this season.
The striker has now scored six of the club’s 11 league goals, including match-winning strikes against KCCA and Police, as well as a brace in the 2-0 win over Buhimba United.
The victory lifted Calvary to 16 points, five behind safety with three matches remaining.
Their run-in includes away trips to URA and UPDF before concluding the season at home against NEC.
Elsewhere, Mbarara City also boosted their survival chances with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Lugazi in another key relegation contest.
Clinton Kamugisha scored the decisive goal in the 52nd minute to secure all three points for the Ankole Lions.
Kamugisha has enjoyed an impressive run of form in recent weeks, scoring four goals in his last four matches.
He netted twice in the 2-2 draw against Maroons before also scoring in the 2-1 victory over Express.
Back-to-back wins against Express and Lugazi have lifted Mbarara City to 12th place on 23 points, seven above the relegation zone with three games left to play.
Lugazi, who remain involved in the survival battle, are 13th on the table on the same number of points as Mbarara City.
