Police 4-0 Buhimba Saints United
Police returned to the top three of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after a commanding 4-0 victory over a free-falling Buhimba Saints United at Kiira Road Ground on Wednesday.
The Cops’ fifth win in nine matches lifted them to 17 points – level with second-placed SC Villa and table-toppers KCCA on goal difference.
For Buhimba, a once-promising start has now unravelled into a sixth defeat of the campaign, leaving them 13th on nine points.
Police were in control from the moment Denis Kalanzi pounced on a rebound in the 28th minute after Lawrence Tezikya’s fierce low drive was spilled by goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba.
Umaru Kasumba doubled the lead just before halftime, sweeping in Obedi Brian’s pass after a swift interception and breaking down the left.
Saidi Kyeyune – later named Man of the Match – stretched the advantage on 59 minutes, Kalanzi the provider.
Derrick Maviiri sealed the rout on 80 minutes, punishing his former employers from close range after good work by Emmanuel Mugumeas Police reignited their charge in the title race.
In Kamwenge, Mbarara City and Entebbe UPPC shared the points in a 1–1 draw.
Ivan Kanyike put the hosts ahead on 73 minutes, but Entebbe responded swiftly through Ambrose Kigozi’s well-taken equaliser six minutes later.
The result keeps Entebbe fifth, while Mbarara stay second from bottom on six points.
Action continues on Thursday with Express welcoming bottom side Calvary to Hamz stadium, Nakivubo and URA versus Kitara wrapping up the double header.
