UPL champions SC Villa will hope for a winning return to African football when they lock horns with Ethiopian counterparts CBE.

The two sides face off at Mandela National stadium in the Caf Champions League preliminary round first leg on Saturday evening with Villa back on the big stage for the first time since 2015.

And this will be the first time in over 19 years for them to play in the Champions League.

Their last champions league game was against record winners Al Ahly with their current coach Morley Byekwaso, a player in that game that ended 5-0 in Cairo after a goalless draw at Nakivubo.

League MVP Patrick Kakande, captain Ronald Ssekiganda and centre back Arnold Odong will be vital for the Jogoos who need a decent result to take into the reverse fixture in a week’s time.

CBE has former BUL winger Simon Peter Oketch in their ranks and he has warned that they wont be pushovers.

Villa Probale XI: Wokorach (GK), Odong, Kibande, Owori, Kaka, Atukunda, Ssekiganda ©, Misi, Iga, Lwanga, Kakande.
