Magera, who took charge of the final stretch of the 2024/25 season as interim head coach following Abdallah Mubiru’s sacking in April, now officially shares the top job with Ssenyondo.
Thirteen-time Ugandan champions KCCA FC have named Brian Ssenyondo as co-coach alongside Jackson Magera in a new-look technical setup at the Lugogo-based club.
Magera, who took charge of the final stretch of the 2024/25 season as interim head coach following Abdallah Mubiru’s sacking in April, now officially shares the top job with Ssenyondo.
“Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club announces Mr. Jackson Magera Kaddu and Mr. Brian Ssenyondo as Co-coaches for the senior men’s team, effective immediately,” read a club statement on Saturday.
“This strategic decision highlights the club’s commitment to building a strong technical bench that combines experience, tactical acumen, and a profound understanding of the game.
“Jackson Magera is a familiar and respected figure within the KCCA FC household, having served in various capacities.”
Magera has previously coached KCCA’s academy and the national U15 and U17 teams. The club believes his deep-rooted knowledge of its culture and operations will be key in this new chapter.
“Joining him is Brian Ssenyondo, with a proven track record and success in Ugandan and international football,” the statement added. “His fresh perspective is expected to complement Magera’s foundational understanding of KCCA FC.”
Ssenyondo has previously handled Mbarara City FC and recently qualified the Uganda U17 national team to the World Cup.
He also led Kitara to their first-ever Stanbic Uganda Cup title and a fourth-place finish in the 2023/24 UPL season.
The duo is now tasked with steering KCCA back to the summit of Ugandan football – a feat that has proven elusive since the departure of Mike Mutebi, who delivered the club’s last league title in 2019.
