URA have confirmed the re-appointment of Sam Ssimbwa as their head coach to replace sacked Jimmy Kintu Mwera.

The announcement comes hours ahead of the clash against UPDF and the former Villa, KCCA and Express coach will be in the dugout.

“URA FC is delighted to announce the return of experienced tactician Sam Ssimbwa as the club’s new Head Coach on a one-year contract, renewable, replacing Jimmy Kintu Mwera,” read part of the statement.

Ssimbwa has previously managed URA between 2018 and 2021 and came close to winning the title which Express lifted in 2021 due to Covid outbreak that halted the league with five matches left to play.

His return marks the beginning of a new chapter as URA FC seeks to strengthen its campaign and improve its fortunes in the ongoing 2026/27 season.

The club confirms that they will announce Ssimbwa’s backroom staff in due course.
