Uganda Cranes coach Morley Byekwaso named the final squad for the forthcoming Africa Nations Championship on Monday confirming Allan Okello as the captain.
Speaking to the press, Byekwaso revealed the team’s readiness to perform better than the previous editions where they have failed to go past group stages.
“We are set and ready for the tournament. The selected players are in perfect shape to make sure we perform well and achieve our prime target of going beyond the group stage,” said Byekwaso.
The team is currently in camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi after returning from Arusha where they had two build up games against Tanzania and Senegal last week.Allan Okello, will be deputized by Joel Mutakubwa and Rogers Torach in that order.
Uganda is in Group A alongside Algeria who they face on Monday next week, Niger, Guinea and South Africa.It should be noted that this year’s tournament is hosted by three countries namely; Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, running from 2nd -30th August.
