Mbarara City 0-1 UPDF

Buhimba vs Calvary (rescheduled for October 4, 2025)

Forward Samuel Kayongo Ssekamate scored the lone goal as UPDF FC picked their first win of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League season, edging Mbarara City 1-0 at Kakyeka Stadium on Friday.

The Army side showed grit to hold on for all three points after being reduced to ten men late in the game. Ssekamate struck in the 67th minute before Christopher Kamagu received his marching orders ten minutes from time.

The victory lifts the Bombo-based side to three points from two matches, having lost their opener to Express at Nakivubo.

For the Ankole Lions, it was a frustrating evening in front of their home fans after drawing 1-1 away to Police on Matchday One.

Elsewhere, the clash between newly promoted sides Buhimba United Saints and Calvary FC was washed out by heavy rains in Butema.

The fixture, scheduled to kick off at Royals Park, was called off after match officials deemed the pitch unfit for play.

In a later statement, the Uganda Premier League Secretariat confirmed the match had been rescheduled for Saturday at 10:00 AM at the same venue, citing player safety and fair competition.

“Please be informed that the Matchday 2 fixture between Buhimba United Saints FC and Calvary FC has been called off due to heavy rains that rendered the pitch unplayable,” read part of the league communication.

Matchday Two continues on Saturday with a double header at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
