Wednesday, October 22, Results

Lugazi 0-0 URA FC

Maroons 0-0 Calvary

Wednesday’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixtures saw two closely contested goalless draws.

URA, the former league champions, traveled to Lugazi seeking their first win of the season, but remained in search at full time.

Both sides played cautiously, though chances came and went. Nelson Senkatuka had a header cleared off the line and Moses Aliro struck the post, while Lugazi also rattled the woodwork twice through David Bagoole and Amos Etoju.

Derrick Mwanje received a yellow card for Lugazi in the 71st minute, while Senkatuka (63’) and Innocent Kisolo (89’) were cautioned for URA.

In a match that lacked a spark, Justine Opilo’s shift stood for URA to earn the player of the match accolade.

The result lifts Lugazi to five points and third place after four matches, while URA sit fourth, a point behind.

Maroons held in Luzira

Newcomers Calvary continued their struggle to find form, managing only a point on the road at Maroons.

The hosts, recovering from an early season defeat, were also unable to break the deadlock.

Emmanuel Derrick Were earned man of the match honours for his composed display. No bookings were recorded in this fixture.

Maroons are ninth with four points from three games, while Calvary remain just above the relegation zone on one point.

Matchday four continues on Thursday with BUL hosting Buhimba United Saints at Njeru and Express taking on KCCA at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
