Wakiso Giants 0-3 URA
UPDF 2-2 Police
URA recovered from two straight defeats to beat struggling Wakiso Giants 3-0 at Kabaka Kyabaggu (Wakisha) Stadium on Wednesday and jump six places up the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.
A Godfrey Sekibengo first half goal and second half brace from Ivan Ahimbisibwe ensured the Tax Collectors, who had lost to Maroons and Vipers SC coming into this, now sit fifth on 14 points after 10 matches.
Ahimbisibwe’s brace took his league tally to seven goals. He joins SC Villa’s Charles Lwanga on the top scorers chart.
Wakiso’s seventh straight winless match keeps them just a place above relegation on nine points from 10 matches.
Sekibengo set the ball rolling for URA three minutes before the half time break, his low left-footed shot off a pass from Moses Aliro making it 1-0.
Ahimbisibwe then grabbed a double in a space of seven minutes, his first goal coming off a fine pass from Abraham Tusubira.
He assuredly collected the ball and eased it past Wakiso goalkeeper Henry Mwebe for 2-0 on 57 minutes.
Ahimbisibwe’s second goal and URA’s third was even better. The striker outmuscled Tanzanian defender Shaibu Mtita before nutmegging Ambrose Arinda and rounding Mwebe to score into an empty net.
Elsewhere, Police continued their drawing mastery, picking up their seventh stalemate in 10 matches in the 2-2 shared-spoils with UPDF.
An Aggrey Kirya own goal and a strike from Allan Bukenya seemed to have given Police the advantage but Bashir Kabuye twice levelled for UPDF for a draw. Both teams moved to 13 points with Police seventh and UPDF ninth.
