The title race in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League tightened – and twisted – on Matchday 25 as SC Villa and Kitara seized their moment, while KCCA faltered in stunning fashion.
Villa were ruthless at Fufa Stadium, Kadiba, thrashing Buhimba United Saints 4–0 to move to 51 points, just four behind leaders Vipers SC, who face Entebbe UPPC on Sunday.
Patrick Kakande set the tone inside a minute before Najib Yiga’s brace and a late Charles Lwanga strike sealed a dominant display that boosted Villa’s goal difference and momentum.
Kitara matched Villa stride for stride, leaving it late to edge Lugazi 2–1.
Patrick Henry Kaddu’s opener was cancelled by Paul Busolo, but Mohammed Shaban struck in stoppage time to lift the Royals level on 51 points, keeping their title push alive despite recent stumbles.
The biggest shock came in Yumbe where bottom-placed Calvary stunned KCCA 1–0.
Lawrence Olaboro’s second-half goal handed the relegation battlers a priceless win, lifting them to 13 points, while KCCA remain on 51 and miss the chance to close to within a point of Vipers.
Elsewhere, Maroons beat Police 3–1 to climb to ninth on 33 points, tightening the mid-table pack and halting Police’s push for the top five.
With Vipers yet to play, the chasing trio have applied pressure – but KCCA’s slip was a dent in a finely poised title run-in.
