SC Villa and URA earned first leg advantage in their Fufa Super 8 first leg clashes winning 2-1 against KCCA and Kitara respectively.
First, the tax collectors in the day’s first fixture at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo got the desired goals from Joseph Ssemujju and Nicholas Kabonge to turn Mweru Doka’s leveller into a mere consolation.
Kabonge scored with literally the last kick of the game to give the tax men a deserved victory.
Later, SC Villa picked victory over rivals KCCA in a game that ushered in new managers for either side.
Ex- KCCA forward Hassan Mubiru opened the scores in the first half before second half substitute Andrew Otim got the second in the closing stages of normal time in the second half.
Sammy Ssebaduka gave KCCA hope of overturning the deficit in the second leg with a late consolation.
Brian Ssenyondo (KCCA) admitted Villa, managed by Serbian Kovacevic Zeljko were the better side on the day.
The two sides will face off in the return matches after the international break.
Action in the Fufa Super 8 continues on Thursday with two fixtures at Nakivubo.
Holders BUL will take on Maroons while NEC lock horns with Express FC who replaced champions Vipers who opted out of the competition to concentrate on Kagame Cup.
