On form Vipers host limping BUL at Kitende on Saturday with eyes on the summit.
The Venoms relinquished top spot to NEC in midweek after the Bugolobi based side beat Soltilo Bright Stars 1-0 at Lugogo but Hussein Mbalangu’s men have played one more game.
Vipers who are on 24 points, just behind the leaders lost the two fixtures last season and that cost them a title defence on the third occasion.
It is a different scenario for BUL who put up a strong challenge last season and only lost the title on the final day.
Abbey Kikomeko’s men have performed abysmally in the last four matches failing to win any despite suffering only one defeat.
They find themselves in 11th position with 14 points, closer to the drop zone than the top at this time of the season.
However, a rare victory over Vipers at Kitende could see them rise up to 6th place.
Match day twelve will conclude on Sunday when KCCA pay a visit to struggling Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, Wakiso.
