Vipers could open an eight-point gap at the top if they overcome Maroons at Prisons Grounds, Luzira on Thursday.

John Ayala and Fred Muhumuzza men come into the game on the back of decent results including beat second placed NEC 3-1 in the league and Villa 1-0 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

With 56 points after twenty-four matches and NEC not in action until the following day, victory will go a long way in cementing the Venoms top position as they to win a league and cup double.

Alfred Mudekereza, Torach and Siraje Sentamu could be recalled to the side after sitting out the win over Villa.

Maroons will be wounded lions after a bitter defeat to UPDF in their last outing which left them 8th on the log with 34 points and a win will lift them into 5th place.

Elsewhere, Express FC will hope to complete a rare double over army side UPDF in a late kick off at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo.

The two sides are tied on 32 points with the Red Eagles a position better in 9th courtesy of a better head-to-head after winning the reverse fixture 2-0 at Bombo thanks to goals from Conrad Ssenjogera and Sam Ssenyonjo.
