Vipers SC have clinched their eighth StarTimes Uganda Premier League title following a commanding 3–0 win over Maroons at Wankulukuku on Tuesday.
The defending champions completed the job on a day when closest challengers KCCA were held 0–0 by URA at Nakivubo.
The triumph leaves Vipers on 64 points from 29 matches, boasting 18 wins, 10 draws and an unbeaten record on the pitch all season.
Their only defeat came by forfeiture after failing to honour their opening fixture against Kitara at the start of the campaign. KCCA remain second on 59 points and can only reach a maximum of 62.
Vipers’ title-clinching performance was wrapped up early and efficiently. Yunus Sentamu struck inside the opening minute, Usama Arafat added a second in first-half stoppage time (45+2), and Karim Watambala sealed the win in the 59th minute.
Sentamu’s decisive influence earned him the Man of the Match award in a game Vipers controlled with authority after the early breakthrough.
Vipers end their campaign against Express, while KCCA conclude their season with a fixture against Mbarara City.
In other UPL results, Police and Entebbe UPPC drew 1–1. Ambrose Kigozi gave Entebbe UPPC an early lead in the fifth minute before Umaru Kasumba equalised in the 81st.
Mbarara City defeated Buhimba United Saints 2–0, with Man of the Match Clinton Kamugisha scoring in the 34th minute and Ronald Edwok adding a second in the 69th.
Elsewhere, UPDF secured their safety in a goalless draw with Calvary, which also confirmed the latter’s relegation, while Express and Lugazi also settled for a barren stalemate.
