Vipers SC and KCCA kept the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title race finely poised with crucial victories on a goal-laden match-day 24 on Tuesday.
Leaders Vipers secured a 2-0 win away to Buhimba United Saints in Hoima, preserving their four-point lead at the top.
Hillary Mukundane struck early in the 11th minute before Abdul Karim Watambala converted from the penalty spot after the break.
Kevin Da Sylva was the conductor of events for Vipers, earning the man of the match accolade.
KCCA responded with a narrow 1-0 victory over UPPC in Entebbe, Sammy Ssebaduka finishing off Joel Sserunjogi’s assist in the 71st minute.
Sserunjogi’s influence earned him the man of the match award as KCCA moved to 51 points.
Elsewhere, UPDF produced the performance of the round with a commanding 5-2 win over BUL.
Emmanuel Ochen scored twice and assisted another, while Ivan Bogere, Enrique Lubwama and Faridi Rashid were also on target. Lubwama was named man of the match.
BUL’s replies came through Dennis Ssewagudde and Hillary Onek.
In Mbarara, Clinton Kamugisha struck twice in the first half for Mbarara City, both assisted by Thomas Kakaire, but Maroons fought back through Marvin Oshaba and Dickson Niwamanya to earn a 2-2 draw. Kamugisha took the man of the match honours.
Police edged URA 2-1 in Kamwokya despite conceding as early as the second minute to Joshua Lubwama Letti.
Lawrence Tezikya and Bedia Djuma Ikamba turned the game around for Police, with Ikamba named man of the match.
UPPC, despite creating chances, fell short and drop to sixth on 40 points, as the race for positions across the table continues to tighten heading into the final run-in.
