Holders Vipers became the first side to progress to the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 after a hard fought 5-4 penalty shootout win over hosts Rugarama in Ntungamo.
The Venoms settled for a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes before perfectly executing their five penalties in the shootout.
They were joined by Kitara who overcame fellow premier league opponents Gaddafi 2-0 at Masindi Municipal stadium on Friday.
Denis Omedi and George Ssenkaaba scored the goals for the hosts.
Record cup winners KCCA and Express take on Jinja North United and Rwenzori Lions at Kakindu and Wankulukuku respectively in the round of 32.
However, URA still has a game in the round of 64 and they visit Kumi United on Saturday.
