Uganda’s continental representatives Vipers and Kitara will aim to register decent results when they take on continental duties this weekend.
First, on Saturday September 5, 2026 at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende, the league champions host Mauritanian counterparts Nouadhibou under floodlights at 7pm.
Vipers were beaten 1-0 by Entebbe UPPC last week in their season opener a result that puts pressure on Denis Lavagne and squad.
“This is going to be a difficult one, just like all CAF Champions League games, and we have to play our big game to win a big game,” said Lavagne.
“I am confident in the team I have to get the job done,” he added.
“There is always pressure for a coach. It’s normal pressure for everyone, including the players.
“We are well prepared for the game. We have played a couple of games, including Gor Mahia in CECAFA and Nairobi United in a friendly.”
On Sunday, all eyes will shift to Hoima City stadium when Stanbic Uganda Cup holders Kitara face Mogadishu City from Somalia in the Caf Confederation Cup.
This will be the second time in history that the Royals play in the competition.
Fortunately, they will host both matches at the newly constructed stadium and if they scrap through, Al Ahly of Egypt awaits in the second preliminary stage.
