The StarTimes Uganda Premier League six-time champions Vipers SC have announced their day to be celebrated annually.
This year’s date will be marked on Saturday July 27, 2024 with gates open at noon, ordinary fans parting with 10k while a few VIP tickets will go for 20k.
Club President Lawrence Mulindwa said; “Every year, for the past four years, (except during Covid), we have been organizing what we call Vipers Fans Day. The purpose of that day is to bring fans together and celebrate the achievements of our club. This function has helped us get numbers and has always been a great success.”
“We are transforming the ‘fans day’, starting this year, into what we are going to call ‘Vipers Day’.
“This is wide, it includes the other stakeholders including the sponsors, partners, friends, different institutions, fans, and others. It’s a big family, and we are looking at a bigger picture.”
Besides fans registration, interaction, feasting and entertainment, there will be two football matches; Vipers Fans vs. Vipers Legends and Vipers vs. African Giants.
The African club to face Vipers in an headline fixture is yet to be confirmed, with Mulindwa saying that it will be a club competing in CAF inter club competitions.
“Come and witness something special,” Mulindwa urged. “We have had former players like Tony Odur, Robert Kimuli, Mike Mutyaba, Owen Kasule, and others who are part of the struggle.
“They contributed to the growth of this club. It will be a feast day, merry-making. We shall also register all fans.
“Also, we shall issue out some few individual awards as a token of appreciation to those who have seen us through very difficult times.”
Mulindwa also highlighted the broader community aspect of the event, inviting the media to be part of it. “The language to be used will be football, don’t expect that to be a political rally. This is a celebration; it’s going to be a big day.”
