Calvary 1-1 Mbarara City
Vipers SC 3-1 BUL
Vipers SC produced a strong second-half display to defeat BUL 3-1 under the lights at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, moving up to second place on 21 points, two behind leaders KCCA, who have played a game more.
After a goalless first half, Enock Ssebagala broke the deadlock moments after the restart, finishing clinically in the 48th minute.
BUL briefly threatened a comeback when Jerome Kirya equalised in the 55th minute, but the hosts quickly regained control.
Abdul Karim Watambala restored Vipers’ lead from the penalty spot on 62 minutes before Usama Arafat added a third two minutes later to seal the champions’ sixth win of the campaign.
Despite missing several Ugandan internationals, Vipers managed the game well to end a run of consecutive draws.
BUL, who extended their winless run to five matches, remain 12th on 10 points after 10 matches.
Earlier in the day, Calvary and Mbarara City shared the points following a 1–1 draw at the Midigo P/S Play Ground in Yumbe in a contest between two sides fighting to move away from the foot of the table.
Calvary took the lead in the 55th minute when Ibrahim Dada converted a penalty to give the hosts hope of a first league win of the season.
However, Mbarara City responded nine minutes later, levelling through an own goal by Stephen Oriokot.
Both sides pushed for a winner but were unable to find a decisive breakthrough, settling for a draw that leaves Mbarara City on seven points and Calvary second from bottom on three.
The results bring Matchday Ten to a close, with the title race tightening at the top and the relegation battle intensifying at the bottom of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.
