BUL 1-0 Kitara
Vipers SC extended their lead at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League to six points after edging Police 1-0 at Kavumba Ground on Thursday.
Yunus Sentamu netted the game’s only goal three minutes into the second half, tapping in Allan Okello’s pass to hand the Venoms their 14th win in 19 matches.
The victory lifts Vipers to 46 points, six ahead of NEC, who play their game in hand against Wakiso Giants on Friday.
Police’s relegation fears deepened with their fifth defeat of the campaign, leaving them just one place above the drop zone on 20 points. However, they maintain a seven-point cushion over Wakiso Giants, who have played a game fewer.
Sentamu, enjoying a resurgence, took his tally to four league goals, while Okello – creator of the winner – remains the league’s top scorer with 14 goals.
Express stumble
In the east, Yusuf Saaka struck on the stroke of halftime to earn hosts Lugazi a 1-0 victory over Express.
The Red Eagles, buoyed by a 4-1 thrashing of Wakiso Giants in their previous outing, failed to carry that momentum into the game.
Saaka’s winner gave Lugazi their fifth victory of the season, lifting them to 11th place on 23 points. Express remain fifth on 28 points after 19 matches.
BUL edge Kitara
Elsewhere in the late kick-off at Nakivubo Stadium, Jerome Kirya scored the decisive goal as BUL edged Kitara 1-0 to consolidate third place on 32 points.
Kitara, who started the day fourth, are now four points behind BUL after 19 matches.
