Vipers and BUL are level on 49 points but the latter top standings because of their head-to-head advantage.
For BUL, who have now beaten Vipers home and away this season, to claim their first ever league title, they just have to win their remaining matches and they will be home and dry.
Kitara and SC Villa are a point below the leading duo, with KCCA and NEC on 45 and 44 points respectively.
For Express, it couldn’t get worse. This was the Red Eagles fourth straight defeat, their 13th in 27 matches. They stay ninth on 32 points.
BUL, Kitara and Villa are next in action on Saturday at home to Gaddafi, Busoga United, and away to UPDF respectively, with leaders Vipers travelling to NEC.
