Wakiso Giants got off the mark in the 2024-25 season with a thrilling 3-2 victory over hosts Maroons at Luzira on Friday.

Marvin Oshaba, Herbert Asiimwe and Tervin Kyeyune scored the goals for the visitors while Baden Ogama netted a brace for the hosts.

The Purple Sharks got off to a good start when Oshaba headed home Marvin Mukiibi free kick in the 5^th minute and Asiimwe doubled the lead in the 32^nd minute finishing off a good team move involving David Bagoole and Hassan Ssenyonjo.

Ogama halved the deficit in the 66^th minute moments after coming on but any hope of a comeback looked vanished when Kyeyune capitalised on an error from goalie Hassan Matovu to slot into an empty net in the 72^nd minute.

Ogama again scored for the hosts in the 76^th minute but Steven Bengo coached side held on for all points that take their tally to four and second on the table.

Next on menu is a home match against Mbale Heroes on Friday 27 while Maroons, with a point in 12^th place will visit Express at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo on September 28.

In other matches played on Friday , KCCA drew 1-1 with BUL at Lugazi, Police and Mbarara City fired blanks at Kakyeka while URA oversaw Bright Stars 1-0 at Kavumba.
