Wakiso Giants 3-0 Gaddafi

Wakiso Giants edged ever closer to safety after dispatching visiting Gaddafi 3-0 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Thursday. 

Kenneth Kimera opened the scoring in the third minute before creator Shariph Kimbowa helped himself to a brace for a comprehensive Wakiso victory. 

This was Wakiso’s only eighth win in 25 matches, moving them to 29 points to create a seven-point gap between them in 12th and Busoga United right below them.

On their part, Gaddafi are just hanging by a thread. At 19 points and second from bottom with four matches left, they will need to win their remaining games and hope UPDF and Busoga lose theirs.

Yet, on the same day they lost to Wakiso, UPDF edged Soltilo Bright Stars 1-0 to keep their survival hopes alive. 

Muwanga Bernard scored the game’s only goal from the penalty spot on 49 minutes in Bimbo to move UPDF to 21 points. 

The soldiers only fifth win of the campaign only served to provide relief and give a glimmer of hope as they remain third from bottom. 

For them to survive, they must their remaining four matches and hope Busoga falter.

On their part, Bright Stars – 10th on 30 points – should be safe with one more win.
