Azam Uganda Premier League Saturday results

KCCA 7-0 Onduparaka

JMC Hippos 1-1 Lweza

Onduparaka had not one single answer for KCCA firepower as the West Nilers were pounded for seven in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) match played at Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday evening.

Teenage debutant Allan Okello plundered a hat-trick and Robert Ssentongo helped himself to a brace in a match that was briefly interrupted by sections of the opposing fans clashing late on.

Paul Musamali also scored one and Geoffrey Sserunkuma grabbed his 11th of the campaign to sour again at the goal scoring chats.

The win takes the champions to 38 points after 17 matches, with their next a visit to Matugga to face the Saints. Onduparaka remain third on 29 points.

Onduparaka fans had packed Lugogo in thousands, totally outnumbering the hosts. But it is the hosts that were loudest on the pitch.

KCCA went ahead after just 10 minutes when 18-year-old Okello tapped home from a yard on his senior club debut after the visitors had failed to clear Muzamir Mutyaba corner.

Okello, a pain in Onduparaka’s defence all evening, then picked out Ssentongo with a lofty pass for the striker to net his fourth of the campaign and second of the game on 18 minutes.

Onduparaka were falling like a pack of cards now, Musamali making it 3-0 from yet another Mutyaba corner on 22 minutes before Okello grabbed his second of the day and fourth for the hosts after the half hour.

With the visitors missing suspended skipper Mohammed Shaban, and the ineligible Caesar Okhuti, Livin Kabon provided the only danger to KCCA, drawing a save from goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan late in the first half.

Down 4-0 at half time, Onduparaka trailed. Yet there was no relenting from KCCA after recess, Ssentongo completing his brace with the champions’ fifth of the match on the hour.

At 5-0, it was almost incomprehensible that Sserunkuma, the club’s lead marksman, had not gone onto the scoresheet.

Not for long, though, as Sserunkuma eventually powered home with his left foot KCCA’s sixth off an Isaac Kirabira assist.

The stage was now ready for youngster, Okello, to complete his hattrick, the intelligent player closing the scoring with KCCA’s seventh into the bottom right corner of the goalkeeper.

There was a brief scuffle late in the game when a section of KCCA fans attempted to chant through Onduparaka’s territory, only to be beaten back by the visitors physically and with flying objects.

But this did not mitigate the size of the defeat the visitors suffered, and yet another statement from KCCA regarding their title defence.

In the day’s only other game, Herbert Odipio scored for JMC Hippos and Wesley John Kisakye for Lweza in the 1-1 affair played out at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.
