SC Villa 0-2 The Saints

In their bid to stay up, The Saints have claimed another big side in SC Villa who they beat 2-0 in a match played at Nakivubo stadium.

George Senkaaba scored in either half to give the Namanve based side a deserved victory over the record league champions.

The Jogoos were the better side in the first quarter of the game with Umar Kasumba, Godfrey Lwesibawa and Mike Sserumaga nearly scoring but were lethargic in front of goal.

Moses Basena’s side however grew into the game as it progressed and on the 35th minute, broke the deadlock when Senkaaba headed home Alex Kitatta cross.

Kitatta raced past Misi Katende chasing Ivan Kiweewa pass and before goalie Ali Ssebwato made contact with the ball, he looped it and Senkaaba reacted faster than Jonathan Mugabi to score the opener.

Ten minutes after the break, he doubled the lead with a well taken shot from edge of the area.

With the back facing goal, he controlled Kiweewa’s pass and made a centre forward’s turn before hitting the ball hard into the corner which left Sebwato with no chance.

Despite a late surge from Ibrahim Kirya’s side who had chances to cut deficit through chances that fell to Sserumaga, substitute Karim Ndugwa and Ambrose Kirya, the visitors held on for maximum points which lifts them to fifth from bottom on the 16 team log with 33 points while SC Villa are 10th with three more.

The Jogoos have however played the least games and still have five games in hand over log leaders KCCA.
