10-man Busoga see Stars in Kavumba

Soltilo Bright Stars won their first game in three matches, beating relegation battlers and 10-man Busoga 2-0 at Kavumba Recreation Ground on Wednesday.

Fiat Cleophus and Nurdin Bunjo scored for Bright Stars as coach Asaph Mwebaze’s side claimed their eighth win of the season.

Busoga’s already bad day was made worse when Tahomera Benon got his second booking in added time for the visitors to end the match with 10 men.

Cleophus put the hosts ahead on 50 minutes before Pilsner Man of the Match, Bunjo, made sure of the result 19 minutes later.

Maroons had last won three matches ago, and had drawn their last two coming into this.

Bright Stars now move one up to ninth on 32 points while Busoga, who have lost 14 in 24 matches, are a place and three points above relegation.

Elsewhere, 10-man URA were held 1-1 by another relegation-threatened side in Blacks Power in Lira.

URA went ahead through Alfred Leku on 11 minutes but Dickens Okwir levelled for Blacks Power on 24 minutes to force shared spoils.

The Tax Collectors were to later lose Benjamin Nyakoojo to a red card on 54 minutes. URA now drop two places to sixth on 35 points from 25 matches while Blacks Power remain second from bottom on 15.
