Express FC 4-1 Onduparaka

Express had a man sent off but still managed to thump relegation-threatened Onduparaka 4-1 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Friday.

Allan Kayiwa was in fine form at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, the striker scoring two goals and assisting in another.

Boban Zirintusa and Marvin Oshaba netted the other two for the Red Eagles to end a painful 11-game win-less streak.

The only blind spot in their win was Derrick Ngoobi being sent off in the 57th minute after a second bookable offence.

Express’ only fifth win in 19 matches of the campaign moves them to 22 points – 15 off the top and four adrift of the relegation zone – in 11th place.

Gama William scored Onduparaka’s consolation in added time. The West Nile club, who had to play their first set of home matches in the first round away from home, on top of a two-point-and-goal deduction, remain bottom on 10 points.

Coach James Odoch’s Express even had a license to squander a penalty when Onduparaka goalkeeper Matthias Okello saved Zirintusa’s kick on six minutes.

But the Red Eagles and Zirintusa finally got their goal when the latter headed home from close range Ngoobi’s ball on 24 minutes.

Kayiwa made it 2-0 from the penalty spot on 71 minutes.

He completed his brace and ninth goal of the campaign from a direct free kick on 87 minutes before Oshaba added icing on the cake in the first minute of added time.
