JMC Hippos 1-0 Lweza

Constantine Nalumoso smashed a 31st minute stunner as ten-man JMC Hippos skipped to the second place with a 1-0 win over Lweza FC on Friday evening at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.

Nalumoso struck the goal from just outside the box from Ivan Lubaale’s corner kick that Abdurrahman Rajab cooled with his chest before setting up for the central defender to hit in his second of the season.

Earlier on Mike Kabanda had done a good job to block Lubaale’s goal bound shot from inside the twelve yards leading to the corner.

Lweza had the closest attempt denied to equalize in the 18th minute when Kabanda sent a long diagonal cross to the box which Moses Ndawula controlled well for Sserunkuma to shoot in but Michael Nantamu pulled an acrobatic save to maintain the score line.

The visitors pulled another effort at the stroke of halftime, where Juma Balinya picked a failed clearance from the right wing drove past Jalendo and Nalumoso before making a good one-two interplay with Ndawula and shot in only for the referee to cancel claiming it was a handball.

The hosts were reduced to ten men in the 64th minute when second half substitute Walter Bankene punched Ibrahim Kiyemba outside the playing field. Bankene had only spent ten minutes after replacing injured Rajab.

The result sends JMC to their best ever ranking on the second position with 37 points while Lweza remain ninth with 30. Both teams have played 24 games.
