Arua Hill 1-1 KCCA
Mbarara City 1-1 Soltilo Bright Stars
Two StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) clubs sharing a lot in common this season each picked their first point of the campaign after six attempts on Tuesday.
KCCA and Arua Hill, who both remain at the bottom of the 16-team table with just a single point each, came into Tuesday’s 1-1 draw in Adjumani on the back of five straight defeats.
The visitors, KCCA, also had to finish the match with 10 men after defender Peter Magambo was sent off with five minutes to go for a second bookable offence.
And it had to take Filbert Obenchan’s goal at the stroke of halftime to cancel out Arua Hill’s Gaddafi Wahab’s opener.
As they have been this season, KCCA went behind when Wahab tapped home on 14 minutes after interim coach Jackson Magera’s boys failed to clear their lines.
But fears of another possible impending defeat were allayed when Obenchan scored from a corner kick to take it to the half time break level. Both teams held on for their first point of the season.
Elsewhere, hosts Mbarara City and Soltilo Bright Stars played a 1-1 draw at Kakyeka, with Joseph Akandwanaho and Nelson Senkatuka scoring the sides’ respective goals.
The result moves Mbarara one place up to eighth on seven points, while Bright Stars are a place above the relegation zone on three.
