Ten-man Tooro survived double penalty storm at their new St Paul’s Seminary Ground to beat league champions KCCA 1-0 on Wednesday.
Charles Musiige was the hero for the hosts as they opened their new home ground with a bang.
And the victim had to be KCCA, who have now failed to win in Fort Portal on three occasions.
The two teams drew in their league fixture last season when Tooro’s home ground was Buhinga Stadium.
Tooro also eliminated KCCA from the Uganda Cup from the same venue last season.
This victory moves Tooro to fifth in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table on nine points.
Defeat for KCCA comes on the heels of elimination from the Caf Champions League last Friday by Angolan side Petro de Luanda.
Yet they had chances to win Tooro goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige was in another mood altogether as he saved KCCA’s two penalties.
First it was Mike Mutyaba on 30 minutes after Mike Kawooya handled in the box and was expelled immediately.
Next it was Allan Okello, who also failed to get the ball past Kibirige from the spot six minutes later .
KCCA’s first defeat of the season sees them drop to 10th in the 16-team log. They have six points from three matches.
