The wait is finally over. The Uganda Premier League (UPL) Secretariat has on Wednesday released the fixtures for the 2016-17 AUPL season.
Unlike before, it entails both the first and second round matches although it’s subject to changes due to the ongoing FUFA Club licensing.
UPL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bernard Bainamani told upl.co.ug that “The fixture was drawn in line with the FUFA Activity Calendar but remains provisional pending the completion of FUFA Club Licensing.”
Bainamani also added that second round fixtures involving KCCA and Vipers who are Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup respectively are likely to be affected.
The CAF Calendar for next year may games involving KCCA and Vipers maybe affected by CAF interclub competitions Calendar that is yet out.
On the opening day; Friday August 19, 2016, KCCA host JMC Hippos, SC Villa play away to Police in Kavumba while Express host Lweza at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
Newcomers Kirinya Jinja SS start at home against URA, Proline play away to Bul while Onduparaka hosts Soana at the Green Light stadium, Arua.
Elsewhere on the day, Vipers host Bright Stars at Nakivubo stadium and The Saints will be home against Sadolin Paints at Bombo Barracks stadium.
