Vipers compound Express woes

AUPL Result

Express 1-2 Vipers SC

Vipers moved fourth in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) table on 23 points following a 2-1 victory over Express on Wednesday.

Milton Karisa and Erisa Ssekisambu scored for Vipers while Dan Sserunkuma got Express’ consolation, also his sixth goal of the season and the Red Eagles’ eighth.

It was not the most convincing performance from Vipers but they managed to get the job done anyway.

Karisa gave Vipers an early lead against the run of play when he headed in a corner from Moses Waiswa.

They doubled the lead in the second half when Sulaiman Jjingo needlessly pulled back Brian Nkuubi.

Erisa Sekusambu stepped up to send to the ball to goalkeeper Godwin Buule’s right. Sserunkuma did get on the score sheet on 69 minutes but it was not enough to get Express from the deep hole they are in.

The Red Eagles are second from bottom with just 11 points from 14 matches and the projections hardly look rosy for a side that last won the league in 2012.
