Just last week, Vipers’ Coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe remarked that his side were in a good position to reclaim the league title. However, following a 2-2 draw with rivals SC Villa, the ex-Victors tactician admits it will be difficult to win the league and that advantage is now with log leaders KCCA.
“It’s still a long way but now KCCA hold the advantage,” he told upl.co.ug. “We have dropped so many points but again, we are still very much in the race,” he added.
SC Villa led the champions at Buikwe but the Venoms rallied from two goals down to salvage a point thanks to Erisa Ssekisambu and Ibrahim Saddam Juma goals.
To Nsimbe, it was a point gained rather than two lost on a day he believes his side started very languid.
“We made a slow start to the game but thanks to the players’ belief, we rallied to get a point. Although our target was three points, it a point gained rather than two lost.”
Vipers sit second on the log with 35 points; three behind KCCA with both teams on 19 games played.
