Fus Rabat 2-1 Rivers Utd
Club Africain 4-0 KCCA
KCCA’s rather impressive run in the Caf Confederation Cup was brought to an end on Friday by a ruthless Club Africain from Tunisia following a 4-0 thrashing in Tunis.Manager Mike Mutebi’s men needed just a draw to become the first Ugandan club to reach the last eight of the tournament but the domestic double champions could not contain the North Africans firepower.
A brace from Mannoubi Hadded and two more strikes from skipper Saber Khalifa and Mootaz Zemzemi ensured KCCA suffered their heaviest defeat of the season.
KCCA would have qualified had Moroccan side Fus Rabat and Rivers United of Nigeria played out a draw in Rabat, but the former converted a spot kick two minutes to time to win 2-1 and advance along with Club Africain.
KCCA will look back to the season they’ve had and pick positives rather than be downcast on Friday’s result on Tunis.
In a season the Ugandan champions completed a domestic double for the first time ever, played in the Caf Champions League and put in a good show to reach this far in the Confederation Cup, manager Mutebi can only look forward to better things next campaign.
