Cranes official sponsors, Airtel, will fly six lucky national team fans to watch, live, Uganda mark their return to the Africa Cup of Nations finals.
Uganda last featured at the continental tournament in 1978, then losing in the final to hosts Ghana.
The Cranes incidentally open their 2017 Afcon campaign in Gabon against the same opponents on January 17.
The six-week campaign dubbed Tulumbe Afcon will see Airtel subscribers also win TV sets, smartphones and Cranes jerseys. Airtel customers have to recharge their airtime to be part of it.
“Airtel customers will have to opt in by dialing *162#,” said Airtel marketing director Indrajeet Kumar, “They will then be required to recharge to meet their individual target.
“Upon reaching the targets, subscribers will receive 100 per cent bonus, which – on accumulation – will be rewarded to them as airtime to be used for voice (prepaid), data and SMS.”
Draws to get the lucky winners will be held every Friday from November 21 to January 13 next year.
Airtel managing director Anuar Soussa called the campaign the “perfect way to end a great year of Ugandan football.”
