SC Villa 1-1 Maroons
Maroons goalkeeper Emmanuel Akol was the star man as the Maroons goalkeeper stood tall against SC Villa advances in the 1-1 draw at Luzira on Wednesday.
Akol made countless saves to deny Villa a second season win, including saving Bashir Mutanda’s second half penalty.
Mutanda had earlier beaten Akol with ferocious drive for Villa’s goal but not when he came up against the young goalkeeper face to face.
Mutanda’s goal had cancelled out Pius Obuya’s 32nd minute opener which came after Emmanuel Olinga released Brian Majwega with a delightful pass.
But Villa responded seven minutes later when captain Ambrose Kirya released Ashraf Mandela down the right.
The wingback then teed up Mutanda who sent in a ferocious drive for his sixth goal of the season.
Villa have now accumulated four points from new coach Douglas Bamweyana’s first two games.
That is the total they had managed in their opening eight games of the season.
Maroons remain fourth from bottom with seven points after 10 games.
