Mbarara City have named senior players Asuman Alishe and Ali Kimera as temporary coaches following the sacking of Ibrahim Kirya.

Kirya was relieved of his duties on Monday after the Ankole Lions suffered a 1-0 loss to UPDF on Saturday as confirmed by Sseka Mutaka, a top club official.

“We have agreed in principle to let Ibrahim Kirya go because the results so far are not convincing and there is no hop that the club will improve in the nearby future,” Mutaka is quoted by local website, Kawowo Sports.  “Yes, Alishe (Asuman) and Ali Kimera will be interim coaches to see us through this challenging moment” Mutaka added.

Kirya joined the Western side days after being axed by URA and leaves them 11th on the 16-team log with 21 points.

He is the second coach to lose the job at City after Vialli Bainomugisha who was axed early in the season.
