KCCA FC are the 2018/19 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) champions following a one-all draw with relegation strugglers Ndejje University at the Arena of Visions on Tuesday.

The draw means that manager Mike Mutebi’s men cannot be overtaken even if they failed to win their remaining two matches.

Second half substitute Sadam Juma levelled for KCCA, who came into this match needing only a point to claim the championship, on 61 minutes to cancel out Anwar Ntege’s 22nd minute opener

This is KCCA’s 13th league title, just three short of record winners SC Villa’s 16.

The hosts, Ndejje, dominated proceedings in the first half and striker Ntege should have netted more than once.

KCCA laboured to get out of the blocks, but eventually got their answer on 61 minutes through Sadam following a clever interplay between Allan Okello and Patrick Kaddu.

Thevisiting fans were could not wait for the final whistle any longer as they stormed the pitch even before the referee to take it off his mouth.

They were soon with their heroes on the pitch celebrating away the title won in a classic ‘two games to spare’ affair.

“We have had a better season than the two last championships, the goals and points have increased, there has been a slight improvement holistically,” said a jovial Mutebi.

“The league has operated at 50 percent and the opposing teams did little to chase the title.,”

“We had planned to win the league Uganda Cup and going into the Caf Confederations Cup group stages. We failed on two but am happy we got the primary one.”

This is Mutebi’s third league title as KCCA coach since returning to the club in 2015.

Elsewhere, Daniel Sserunkuma scored his 12th goal of the season and Rahmat Senfuka added the other as Vipers beat Police 2-1.

Basani Nasur got Police’s consolation in a match Vipers, despite their victory, could not stop KCCA’s march to the title.

In Mbarara, Allan Kayiwa grabbed a brace in Tooro’s 3-0 win over relegated Nyamityobora while Ronald Magwali scored Villa’s goal in the 1-0 victory over Maroons.
