Bbaale brace continues Villa’s charge

Saturday result

Wakiso Giants FC 1-3 SC Villa

SC Villa’s title charge continued on Saturday with the Jogoos coming from behind to beat Wakiso Giants 3-1 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

The win saw the Jogoos open a six-point lead at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.

Starman Charles Bbaale scored a brace for coach Jackson Magera’s side and Umar Lutalo got the other goal, a thunderous drive.

Shariph Kimbowa scored Wakiso Giants consolation.

This was Villa’s 14th win in 21 matches, moving them to 43 points, six ahead of KCCA, who have played three matches fewer.

For Wakiso Giants, it was a continued downward spiral in the second round.

The home side lost their ninth match in 21. They stay ninth on the table with 26 points.

Yet Wakiso started well, here. They went ahead as early as the sixth minute when Kimbowa connected home Marvin Mukiibi’s pass.

Villa’s response was resolute, Lutalo sending in a screamer on 28 minutes that left everyone bewildered.

The stage was set for Villa top scorer Bbaale, the Pilsner Man of the Match scoring in the 51st and 58th minutes his seventh and eighth goals of the season.

Villa are looking for their first league title since 2004.
