Express boosted their relegation survival chances in style, ruthlessly seeing off Soana 4-0 at Wankulukuku on Tuesday.
Michael Birungi led the execution, the striker scoring twice as the Red Eagles moved from bottom of the 16-team league table to 14th on 19 points, remaining in relegation zone notwithstanding.
Jalilu Zimula and Ayub Kisalita scored the others.
Express, fresh from a draining 4-3 defeat to Police, took the lead as early as the 14th minute, Zimula side-stepping Soana left back Isa Mubiru before calmly slotting home past goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa.
Birungi got his first six minutes later as the Red Eagles took a 2-0 time lead.
The former KCCA, Police and Khartoum Al Watani forward made it 3-0 with his second 15 minutes after the break.
In-form defender Ayubu Kisaliita completed the rout as the Red Eagles got a much needed breather from uncertainty.
This was Soana’s ninth loss of the season. They remain 11th on 24 points.
