Blacks Power improved their survival chances when they beat Maroons 1-0 at Akii Bua Stadium, in Lira on Tuesday.
Dickens Okwir scored the game’s only goal on the stroke of half time for the Lira side’s only fourth victory in 22 matches.
The result keeps Blacks Power second from bottom but moves them to 19 points, only three behind Busoga United, who lost 3-0 to Express.
Both Busoga – who occupy the last remaining place to survive relegation, and Blacks Power have played 22 games, meaning they have six matches left to ensure their safety. Onduparaka, who have played two games fewer, are bottom on 13 points.
Maroons’ sixth defeat of the season leaves them in a fairly safe 10th on 27 ponts. Earlier on Tuesday, Gaddafi and Wakiso Giants could only play out a goalless draw in Kakindu.
