Caf Confederation Cup
First round/preliminary first leg
Proline 3-0 Masters Securty
Return leg in Blantyre, August 23
Masters Security vs Proline (0-3)
It was double joy for continental debutants Proline as they thrashed Malawi’s Masters Security 3-0 on the Ugandans first Caf Confederation Cup appearance.
The continental bow victory was ensured debutant Ivan Bogere’s hattrick. The forward will go down in the club’s history as the first player to score a continental goal and hattrick.
The Uganda Cup winners will now take their huge victory at Lugogo to Blantyre in the second leg hoping to close off the encounter and make the second round at the first time of asking.
Bogere gave the hosts the lead as early as the 17th minute, slotting home past the visiting goalkeeper Noordin Bunjo’s ball.
He doubled his and the hosts goal tally in the 56th minute as he turned in Ibrahim Ssendi’s before putting the tie beyond the guests 10 minutes from time.
Proline will automatically progress to the second round if they avoid a similar scoreline defeat in the return leg on August 23.
