SC Villa 1-2 Soltilo Bright Stars.
Soltilo Bright Stars eased their own relegation fears with a 2-1 away victory over SC Villa in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) match played at the Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru on Friday.
The visitors took a 2-0 half time lead and looked like they would run away with it but Villa pulled one back later on for – you could say – a respectable scoreline defeat.
Bright Stars went ahead from a penalty spot through striker Nelson Senkatuka on 11 minutes before Yasin Mugume ensured of a 2-0 halt time lead. Senkatuka was also named the Pilsner Man of the Match, which comes with a cash prize of Shs100,000.
Goffin Oyirwoth struck one back for Villa on 69 minutes but it was only good for a consolation. The Jogoos have endured a difficult season so far under new Greek coach Petros Koukouras.
The record 16-time league champions, their last title coming in 2004, have now lost seven of their 17 games, and at as many points, they sit in 11th on a 16-team table. They have won only four matches so far.
On their part, the Bright Stars only third win eased their relegation pressure, although they are just a place above relegation on 15 points.
