Soltilo Bright Stars 3-2 Busoga United
Soltilo Bright Stars picked their first StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) win of the season when they edged Busoga United 3-2 in a five-goal thriller on Friday.
Nelson Senkatuka, Sam Ssenyonyi and Yasin Mugume scored for Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation Ground while Mugwa Bashamu and Joshua Ssentambule netted for the visitors.
The win, Bright Stars first in seven matches, has them just above relegation on six points, while Busoga’s fourth defeat of the campaign has them two places above on seven points.
Bright Stars romped into a 3-0 lead inside the first 23 minutes as they threatened to sweep away Busoga.
The home side went ahead on 13 minutes courtesy of Senkatuka’s penalty after Mugume was fouled in the area.
They doubled their advantage through Ssenyonjo just moments later before Mugume’s long range drive beat Michael Lutaaya in Busoga’s goal for 3-0 on 23 minutes.
But the visitors pulled one back six minutes to half time when Bashamu scored from a free kick.
Busoga threatened a comeback when they reduced the deficit to 3-2 after Ssentambule connected home Bashamu’s ball four minutes into the second half but Bright Stars held on for all three points.
