Bright Stars 2-1 KCCA
Onduparaka 1-1 Onduparaka
KCCA’s title defence suffered a setback as they fell 2-1 to Bright Stars at Kavumba on Tuesday.
This was Bright Stars second successive win in the second round of the StarTines Premier League (SUPL).
Midfielder Jamil Karisa played an influential part in setting up Joseph Janjali to tap home the opener.
Muzamir Mutyaba then equalised with a fine left footed volley for 1-1 at the break.
Bright Stars then got the winner late in the game when Karisa exchanged passes with substitute Ronald Ssempala before the latter sealed it.
Victory has Bright Stars in 12th on 16 points while KCCA remain second on 35, seven behind leaders Vipers.
KCCA manager Mike Mutebi admitted they were second best.
“They closed down the spaces and didn’t allow us to play,” he said, “My boys were a bit soft and the opponents deserved to win.”
Bright Stars coach Paul Kiwanuka said: “We know the situation we are in but when we give our all we know we can collect enough points.”
In Arua, Julius Malingumu and Patrick Bayiga scored for Onduparaka and Maroons respectively as the two played out a 1-1 draw.
