Bright Stars, SC Villa fire blanks

Saturday result

Bright Stars 0-0 SC Villa

Bright Stars stretched their unbeaten run to three StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) matches as they drew goalless with SC Villa 0-0 at Mwererwe on Saturday.

This was coach Fred Kajoba’s first dropped points of the season, and the result sees the Stars drop from the top to second with seven points, two behind new leaders Vipers.

For coach Moses Basena’s Villa, it was another point grilled out in adversity. Yet, a look at the table hardly suggests the Jogoos made any progress.

Having drawn their first match, lost the second and now forged out point, SC Villa drop further down to 13th, a place above relegation.

The record-16-time champions have scored only two goals, which came in their league opener against Kirinya-Jinja, and have conceded three.

In contrast, their Saturday opponents have scored six goals in their first three matches, while conceding as many; but Bright Stars firepower upfront means they have had their best start in topflight football.

Their skipper, Nelson Senkatuka, has been at the forefront of that decent start, scoring three of Bright Stars goals.

Bright Stars are next in action on Tuesday when they come up a rejuvenated KCCA at StarTimes Stadium while Villa host Vipers on Wednesday.
