Bul, 10-man Villa trade goals in draw

SUPL result

Bul 2-2 SC Villa

Bul and 10-man SC Villa played out a four-goal thrilling draw on Friday, a day that saw all three StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) matches fail to produce a winner.

The result leaves the above two, plus Mbarara City, URA, Police and Wakiso Giants on one point apiece from their opening day of the 2020/21 season.

The opening day on Thursday saw 13-time champions, KCCA, edge Soltilo Bright Stars 2-1.

At Kyabazinga Bugembe Stadium in Jinja, coach Edward Kaziba’s Villa looked like they would own the day when they took the lead on five minutes through Alex Emmanuel Wasswa.

But Musa Esenu and Richard Wandyaka had other ideas, combining to breach the Jogoos defence before the latter turned in Esenu’s ball on 31 minutes to send the tie into the break level.

Bul had the momentum on resumption, Esenu, crafter of the first, scoring Bul’s second goal on 55 minutes as the hosts sensed three points, here.

Villa pushed back, but the visitors got a setback when Benson Muhindo was sent off for unsportsmanlike behaviour on 68 minutes.

But the 16-time league record champions showed resilience, levelling matters with 13 minutes to go through Nicholas Kabonge.
