Ibrahim Mugulusi and Richard Wandyaka were Bul’s heroes as the Jinja side overcame Police 2-1 in Eastern Uganda on Friday.
This was Bul’s first game of the season, and they could not have kicked off better – fighting off a desperate Police side, who were recording their second successive defeat.
Police came into this on the back of a 3-0 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) defeat to KCCA, and coach Abdallah Mubiru’s men badly wanted to get something out of this.
Bul went ahead after exciting midfielder and Pilsner Man Of The Match, Mugulusi, turned in a free-kick on 37 minutes.
But Police rallied to force it into the half time break at 1-1, Brian Mululi heading home Eric Senjobe’s cross.
However, Police’s spirits were broken again, Wandyaka making the most of Fredson Gwoto’s assist to restore the lead on 48 minutes.
In Kavumba, Onduparaka also registered their first win of the season, beating Soltilo Bright Stars 1-0.
Pilsner Man Of The Match Dudu Ramadan scored the game’s only goal on 30 minutes, heading home Rashid Okocha’s cross past Stars goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.
Onduparaka came into this on the back of a one-all draw with UPDF, while Bright Stars were from a 3-1 humbling by Mbarara City.
