BUL pip Arua Hill to return top

Tuesday results

Arua Hill 0-1 BUL

Ibrahim Nsimbe scored the only goal of the match as BUL edged Arua Hill 1-0 at Barifa Stadium on Tuesday. The victory saw the Jinja side return to the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League standings.

This followed another crucial win over Wakiso Giants last week, and is the Jinja side’s seventh victory in 11 matches.

The win sees BUL return to the top on 23 points, one mark and a game more than second-placed KCCA.

It is also the first time coach Alex Isabirye’s men were winning successive matches since early in the season.

Nsimbe struck on the hour mark to decide an otherwise closely contested affair at Barifa. Only SC Villa, and now BUL, have won at Barifa Stadium – Arua’s fortress – this campaign.

It was a set-back for Arua Hill after the West Nile side beat Express in their last outing. Arua’s fifth defeat in 11 matches keeps them seventh on 16 points.

Elsewhere, URA’s indifferent season continued with a 1-1 draw at UPDF. Hussein Hassan scored for UPDF while Eric Ssenjobe’s 77th minute equaliser rescued a point for URA

URA have now drawn seven of their 12 matches, winning just two and losing the other. They stay 10th on 13 points.

UPDF are three places below on seven points from 11 games. The league continues on Wednesday with three matches on card.
