The Burkina Faso team had their final training session at Namboole in Kampala on Monday night ahead of the all-important 2017 Afcon qualifier against hosts, Uganda, with their coach vowing they are here for all three points.

Coach Paulo Duarte’s side edged Uganda 1-0 in the reverse fixture in Ouagadougou at the weekend to go top of Group D and are determined to secure three more points here on Tuesday to consolidate their lead.

“I expect a good game,” said the Portuguese, “For me I think my team is the best, always. Another one will say yours is the best but tomorrow (Tuesday) I think we shall have a very good game between two very good teams.

“Because I know this team, I watched six games for Uganda, and I know they start with fantastic ambiance (start strong) and we expect the same tomorrow.”

While Duarte wants three points, he is realistic enough to welcome one, too, especially given Uganda’s home strength. The Cranes have lost just once at Namboole in the last 11 years.

“Three points… win… is good. One point… is not bad but we don’t want one point. We want the three points but after the game we can see what was good.”
